The marine evacuation contingent comprised one battalion landing team, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (2/4).[1] On 13 April, Amphibious Ready Group Alpha proceeded to the South China Sea to rendezvous with Task Force 76 as it stood by to implement Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of Saigon.[2]:124
